The project

We first spoke with BooksForTopics in June 2023. Six months prior the website had been rebuilt and replatformed onto WordPress by Mel and the team at Speckled Frog. The site’s traffic level was good, our task was to take the site’s traffic up to 11.

The site was built to provide maximum flexibility, so that BooksForTopics could easily add new pages, booklists and printables, so that the site could grow alongside the business. This also made implementing any SEO related requirements, really simple.

The process

The scale of the BooksForTopics site can not be underestimated, this is a large and complex site. As such close cooperation with Mel at Speckled Frog was needed to resolve a number of technical SEO issues. Leading to an increase in the number of existing pages in Google’s index and helping to improve navigability. Through our keyword research we identified a number of potential new landing pages related to searches around children’s ages, which complemented the existing year group based pages. We provided direct and instructional support across a number of on-page issues, as well as executed a targeted backlink campaign. We also worked closely with Alison and the team at BooksForTopics, who already crafted excellent written content, creating additional content for existing pages as well as the new pages.

The Reaction

The site now receives over 25,000 visitors per month, from our starting point of ~11,000. Ranking for over 10,000 keywords with >1600 on page 1 of Google.

The BooksForTopics site provides booklists for schools and children’s reading resources, which are a hugely valuable source of information for teachers and parents. We are thrilled that the SEO growth enables more users than ever to access the wealth of resources provided on the site in order to positively impact children’s learning in classrooms and homes.
